Principal Investigators
Veli Mitova (University fo Johannesburg) and Lubomira Radoilska (University of Kent)
Veli is BA Newton Advanced Fellow, Professor, and Head of Philosophy at the University of Johannesburg. She is also co-founder of the African Centre for Epistemology and Philosophy of Science, and the South African team leader for The Geography of Philosophy Project.
She obtained her PhD from Cambridge, and her BA, Hons, and MA from Rhodes University. Before joining UJ in 2015 she taught and researched at Universität Wien, UNAM (México), and Rhodes. She is author of Believable Evidence (2017, CUP) and editor of The Factive Turn in Epistemology (2018, CUP). Those were about epistemic reasons and neighbouring normative concepts. At the moment she is thinking about how the vocabulary of reasons can help us better theorise epistemic injustice. |
Lubomira is Senior Lecturer in Philosophy at the University of Kent and Editor-in-Chief of Ethical Theory and Moral Practice.
Her research interests are in ethics, philosophy of action and epistemology. She works on issues at the intersection of Responsibility, Reasons and Agency (Epistemic and Practical) and has published widely on topics, such as autonomy and action, belief and trust. She is the author of Addiction and Weakness of Will (Oxford University Press, 2013) and editor of Autonomy and Mental Disorder (Oxford University Press, 2012). She is currently thinking about ways in which responsibility for and in the context of epistemic injustice relates to debates on the nature and scope of the knowledge condition on responsible actions. |
